Til Taylor 101 Park Rebuild Project

Splash Pad Open 9am - 9pm Seven Days A Week

 

The Til Taylor 101 Project, named for its completion on the 101st anniversary of Sherrif Til Taylor’s murder, will revitalize one of Pendleton’s most historic parks and with it, bring a unique ADA accessible play experience for the entire family. The Til Taylor statue and a memorial wall will remain in place, but two new playgrounds and a splash pad will be installed where the deteriorating wading pool existed. A fenced-in dog park will also be added to the opposite side of the park, which was a need that was highlighted in the 2018 Campbell and DeLong resources survey.

tree rot Til Taylor Tree Removal - The Why

When you compare Til Taylor park from now to 6 months ago, there have been many changes. One of the biggest has been the removal of many large trees from the park. One may ask, "Why on earth would they remove such large trees?" Although the trees may look fine and healthy from a public view, they were riddled with rot and decay on the inside. A problem the Parks department had been battling for some time was erroneous amounts of limbs broken off after windstorms, which was one of the effects of the rot within the trees.

The Til Taylor Project is a multi-department effort lead by the Parks Office. Multiple teams and businesses are involved in the process of bringing two new playgrounds, a splash pad, and a dog park to Pendleton.
