Wildhorse Foundation awards $28,879.91 grant

The Pendleton Fire & Ambulance Department is pleased to announce the receipt of a generous grant of $28,879.91 from the Wildhorse Foundation. This vital funding will enable the department to purchase a LUCAS device, significantly enhancing its ability to provide life-saving care to the community.

The LUCAS device is a state-of-the-art mechanical chest compression system that delivers consistent, high-quality chest compressions to sudden cardiac arrest patients. This technology ensures uninterrupted compressions, improving blood flow to the heart and brain and significantly increasing the chances of survival during cardiac arrest emergencies.

Fire Chief Tony Pierotti expressed deep gratitude for the Foundation's support, stating, "We are immensely thankful to the Wildhorse Foundation for this critical grant. The LUCAS device will be a transformative addition to our emergency response toolkit, allowing us to deliver the best possible care to our community members in their most urgent moments of need."

In 2023, Pendleton Fire & Ambulance responded to more than 4,200 calls for service, covering an extensive area of 1,800 square miles in Umatilla County. The addition of the LUCAS device will further bolster the department's capabilities, ensuring that the department remains at the forefront of emergency medical care and can continue to serve our community with excellence and dedication.

The grant funding is provided by the Wildhorse Foundation, which formalizes charitable giving on behalf of the CTUIR and Wildhorse Resort & Casino, is committed to supporting initiatives that benefit the local community. Since  it was founded in 2001, the Foundation has awarded millions of dollars in grants to various organizations, enhancing education, health, public safety, arts, and culture in the region.
